So Begins the End

So Begins the End

Tweet We’ve started the editing process on Steps of Krakador this week, the third and final installment in the Vitalis Chronicles Trilogy. It’s pretty exciting to be rounding the corner to the finish on this trilogy, so I thought I’d take a moment to talk a little bit about what’s coming next. This is something demanded of me in emails, requested in reviews, even threatened in person: “Don’t stop with book three!” A number of people jumped to my defense at this revelation, but what’s most important to me is those who simply reiterated that they stay up late at night reading my books because they can’t put them down. I write these for the people that love them, plain and simple. So, for you late-night readers,...

Jay Swanson [dot] me

Jay Swanson [dot] me

Tweet I finally have the site up, jayswanson.me – it’s ready to roll and even has two blog posts on it, the latest detailing with why Tomb of the Relequim isn’t done yet. It doesn’t go into gory details, but you get an idea. Part of it involves me on a motorcycle, which I’m sure you picked up from the thumbnail of this post. As for Tomb of the Relequim, I’m hoping to release it in early June, only 2 months late. That’s not too bad since I didn’t really tell anyone anything but “Spring 2012” in the first place. I guess it’s a good thing not to put dates on releases until you’ve got the thing ready to go. The second book in the Vitalis Chronicles is coming soon, so stay tuned! In the meantime,...

Time to Professionalize

Time to Professionalize

Tweet So I’ve done a poor job of separating things out on my websites. After some conversations and research I’ve come to realize that I need to get on top of how I’m presenting myself. What I mean by this is that I need to separate my personal blogs, posts, etc. from my more professional sites. So, for example, blog posts riddled with comics about why I hate moths aren’t exactly what I’m going for on a blog about my contemporary epic fantasy trilogy. Like many other authors I know and/or stalk, I’m going to open an author site/blog where you can find more of my musings, opinions, and comics. It will be a more well-rounded representation of who I am to the greater internet. I think it’s my humorous take on things that...

The Release Party – A Recap

The Release Party – A Recap

Tweet The release party at Oasis was a blast for everyone involved. The owner of the juice bar went so far as to text Liz and ask us when we were coming back. As for the bestseller push, White Shores made it to three lists at one point. I never saw what the best standings were, and it didn’t help that I was away from the internet most of the day, but it got close to #3,000 on the overall bestseller’s list, #14 on Epic Fantasy, #40 in Fantasy overall, and there was another list to do with hot new releases. We had some great readers at Oasis, and some fantastic musical performances. There’s a lot of talent around here. I think what surprised me the most was how enraptured with the readings people got. The whole place was packed, to the point that...

Release Party

Release Party

Tweet On the off chance that you’re in Freetown next week, we’ll be having a release party for the book. Wednesday at 7PM, with some live music and excerpts from the book. I won’t lie, it’s gonna be a bit strange to have people reading from my book – out loud – in public… weird. It should be a good time. Assuming you’re waiting for the July 20th release date, I should probably say that it’s become the “hopeful” release date. The Kindle version is already available for sale, and if you want to buy White Shores on Kindle you’re welcome to do so. But I’d still ask that if you can wait until July 18th – 22nd that would be the best for the whole bestseller push. The book is available...
