Why I’ll never be as famous as Nathan Fillion

Why I’ll never be as famous as Nathan Fillion

Tweet And these are hard facts. The thing is that whenever people find out I wrote a book, and that it’s for sale, they tend to say something like “I can’t believe you’re gonna be famous!” Or “Remember me when you get super famous!” My usual response is something bashful. I’ll say “oh quit it,” while brushing their adulation aside furtively with my hand. I mean I appreciate the comment, I harbor similar delusions and grasp at any straws thrown my way. But in the end, it’s really impossible for me to ever be famous. Especially as famous as Nathan Fillion. And here’s why. For one, fame is a moving target. Who’s famous depends entirely on where you are and who you’re talking to. No...

How to Pirate My eBook

How to Pirate My eBook

Tweet Yeah, that’s right. I’m about to tell you how you can effectively steal from me. Now that’s not to say I want to become a statistic, but I’m all for freedom of information. Truth be told, this is really about getting my book on any eReader you want. I’m all about not freedom from technological limitations – don’t restrict yourself. I don’t think you should have to buy my book three times in order to read it wherever you want. Or if the most unlikely of events occurs and your Amazon account gets nuked, who would want to re-purchase their books? Even though this does sound nice to my wallet. Hey Kindle Users

Hey Kindle Users

Tweet How’s this for a teaser? It’s pretty dang sexy if I do say so myself. The cover looks great in black and white, and the formatting process wasn’t nearly as demanding or daunting as I had expected it to be. You should have seen my first attempt at formatting for kindle, it was terrible. The layout looks nice. It’s simple, nothing near as fancy as the print version, but that’s what we’re going for with eReaders anyways, right? Customizability and simplicity. I still threw in some drop caps though. In the end I couldn’t resist. It’s crazy how different it looks from kindle to kindle. My buddy Cyle, for example, goes for the sans-serif/small font size styling. It looks insanely different, and I kind of like it....

Off to the Printers

Tweet I’ve been working late a lot this last week, but I worked really late last night. I’m still kind of half-asleep as I write this… I started at 6:30PM (GMT) yesterday after getting the final edits from Jenna, my editor. It took a while to go through all of them, but I finished it off after a few hours. Thankfully I’ve been working on the styling and getting the book put together for the last week, so all I had to do was plug in the new chapters, style them, and proof the PDF. Simple? Still took me another 6 hours or so. At about 4:30am this morning I uploaded the print version of White Shores to my printer/distributor, Lightning Source. Then I went to bed because it was really ridiculously late. Within 12 hours they had already...
